Confused about what sort of apartment you can afford to rent based on your salary? Simple: You need to make 40 times the monthly rent in order to qualify for a given unit. So if you make $200,000 a year (either as a single person or as a household), you’ll be able to swing a place for $5,000 a month tops.
Here are 10 apartments across New York City that could be yours for that price, including a renovated Kips Bay two-bedroom, a DUMBO loft with nine-foot ceilings, and a five-bedroom unit with two balconies in Riverdale.
