A Crown Heights one-bedroom at Brooklyn's median rental price

A Crown Heights one-bedroom at Brooklyn's median rental price
Last quarter's market reports from Douglas Elliman revealed that the median price of a rental in Brooklyn is now $2,700 per month, and in honor of Average New York week, we're taking a look at what exactly that gets you.
In 2016, we named Crown Heights as one of the best neighborhoods for recent college grads for its great entertainment and nightlife options, as well as its affordability. But prices may no longer be quite so reasonable. In the case of this At Home Realty listing, $2,799 only snags you a one-bedroom, one-bath—though it's in a conveniently located new development with some high-end features.
The property is on bustling Franklin Avenue, a thoroughfare chock-full of restaurants and bars and is close to the Franklin Avenue station as well as the Brooklyn Museum. This all means easy access to culture, but it could also bode poorly for street noise. On the bright side, the living room looks well-illuminated, and there's a terrace off the space for when you feel like gazing down upon all the action. And the open kitchen, while not huge, features snazzy white countertops and stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher.

The bedroom features large windows framed with custom black millwork, as well as new hardwood floors and spacious closets. And the bathroom's artful mosaic tile floor offers a welcome break from the unit's otherwise straightforward aesthetic.
In addition to the apartment's private terrace, the building also has a roof deck; other amenities include an in-unit washer and dryer and virtual doorman service. It's probably more than what $2,700 per month would get you in Manhattan, but nevertheless a sign of how high prices are climbing in even the so-called affordable corners of Brooklyn, too.
