Most of us would be more than happy to rent in a penthouse under any circumstances, but a penthouse that's also a light-filled duplex? That's a setup we can definitely get used to.

One of the bedrooms appears to have its own private deck (and en-suite bathroom), and while the smallest of the three bedrooms is staged as a nursery, the listing notes that temporary walls and roommate shares are allowed, meaning the place might be a fit for a group of well-to-do roomies, as well. (Cats and dogs are welcome, too).

The kitchen is full of new finishes, and in spite of its galley layout, looks spacious enough that multiple people could be in there at once without driving each other nuts. (There's a washer and dryer in the apartment, as well.)

Note: The listing mentions a flexible lease term of "9-20 months," meaning the landlord likely wants to sign a lease that'll put this place on the market in the spring or summer, a time when market prices might be even higher than the current $9,000 price tag. But if you're willing to shell out for a spacious apartment in the heart of Chelsea, this one could well be worth it. Plus, there's no broker's fee, and one month of rent is thrown in, too.
