Outfit your place like this swank Upper East Side penthouse
When perusing New York City real estate listings, you'll see a lot of beautiful and high-priced apartments, decorated (naturally) with beautiful and high-priced furnishings. While you may not be able to afford that multi-million dollar condo, or everything in it, it is possible to steal a bit of that high style with the purchase of one chic, on-trend piece. That's where our new feature, "Shop This Space" comes in. We'll highlight a pleasingly-appointed room in an apartment that would bust most New Yorkers' budget, and find out how much the individual items are, and where you can get them.
We're guessing you don't live in a 1,600-square-foot, $4.4 million penthouse (if you do—well done). Still, that shouldn't stop you from stealing a bit of high-end style for your digs. As we did in last week's installment of our new feature, we're dropping in on a luxury listing to find out how it's appointed, and how much it costs to own a piece of the one-percenter lifestyle. Up this week: the living room of the penthouse at 389 East 89th St., a two-bedroom, three-bath apartment listed for $4,485,000.
The penthouse was staged by interior designer Taylor Spellman, (once host of Bravo TV’s “Yours, Mine Or Ours"), who was shooting for a masculine/bachelor pad aesthetic, and employed strong, warm tones in the space. Spellman notes that when working on project such as this, she'll source statement accent pieces from Target and HomeGoods, and mix them with high-end furnishings. (Good to know!)

A glass-topped coffee table with hefty black base, $959

The penthouse version is no longer available, but this one is similar, and also provides nice contrast to the rug.
