A sky-high studio on the Upper West Side—with a price to match
This 23rd-floor Upper West Side alcove studio is an eye-popping $720,000 (yes, you read that right). But we're thinking the fact that it's on a high floor of a new condo building packed with amenities like a gym, two kids' playrooms, a concierge and a shared terrace explains the price tag ... somewhat.
The apartment is about 500 square feet, according to the listing, and divided into two areas, one big enough for a bed and a desk, and the other designed more as a living room. (It looks great staged and unclutteredof course, once your mess takes over, it may look less spacious.)
Another plus is the three closetsa generous number for one person (which can help keep the aforementioned mess hidden).

There's also that new-construction favorite: the wall of windows, which overlooks a private balcony. Sure, those with even a whiff of vertigo should stay away, but for others, the light and air will probably go a long way to enlarging the space even further.

The kitchen (above) somehow reminds us of the food prep area in an airplane, but it has custom cabinets and quartz countertops, along with all the high-end appliances like Liebherr, Miele, and Bertazzoni. Most importantly, it's walled off from the living areaeven if you're not in the market for a kitchen dripping with brand names, a wall between your bed and the stove could help alleviate the cramped feeling of a studio.

Still, this place is not exactly a steal: similarly sized apartments on the Upper West Side sold for an average of about $100,000 less over the last 90 days, according to StreetEasy. But if you're going to live in one room, at least it's a pretty nice room, with plenty of places to go within the building when things start to feel claustrophobic.
