A balcony-approved grill that's charged by the sun — no gas required
Anyone who's ever wanted to cook on a New York City balcony and is either too scared or too confused by the city's rules might want to seriously consider buying a solar-powered grill called the GoSunGrill, now on Kickstarter. The company has more than doubled its fundraising goal with over a month to go, which means it will definitely be available to ship in September 2015 (just before it gets too cold to eat outside in these parts).
This is how it works: You charge the thermal battery for two hours, and then you can bake (at 300-400 degrees), steam, roast and boil food for up to eight people — think four pounds of chicken at a time — day and night (if you're so inclined).
Grills and batteries are available starting at $449, and you can purchase a grill stand, too. It also looks a heck of a lot easier to clean than the average charcoal or gas grill, and easier to transport on camping trips.

Plus, there's the feel-good factor: The company plans to take some of the profits to bring its technology to the developing world to foster fuel-free cooking.
