This weekend's open houses for large apartments in Manhattan and Brooklyn (asking $1.5 million or less)
If you're trying to push off the escape to the suburbs as long as possible, and are looking for a three-bedroom in Manhattan or Brooklyn instead, you're in luck. We've got quite a few three-bedroom apartments that clock in at well under $1.5 million. Some may need a little bit of work, but all might be worth checking out at their open houses this weekend. There's outdoor space, prewar details, and quite a few duplexes for the taking.
220 Berkeley Place, Park Slope: This rather large—it's around 1800 square feet—co-op is being marketed as a three bedroom/flex-four, and is a combination of two apartments. It's got two bathrooms and slate and hardwood floors. And even though it's a co-op, it looks like you can put 10 percent down. Asking price: $1.598 million. Open house: Sunday, April 17, 2 pm to 3:30 pm
511 East 82nd Street, Yorkville: While some buyers may not be crazy about the spiral staircase (and the fact that the third bedroom doesn't appear to have a door), the two terraces and real dining area in this three-bedroom, three-bath co-op may make up for that. Asking price: $1.295 million. Open house: Sunday, April 17, 1 pm to 3 pm
504 Grand, Lower East Side: There are no photos of the interiors of this three-bedroom, one-bath co-op, which means it probably needs a gut-renovation. That said, there appear to be three full bedrooms, and it may be worth undertaking a construction job. If you can live with one bathroom that is. Asking price: $1.25 million. Open house: Sunday, April 17 (by appointment)

87 Lafayette Avenue, Fort Greene: This penthouse three-bedroom, two-bath duplex condo has two bedrooms, a kitchen, and the living room on the first floor, and a master on the second. There's also a roof deck off the master bedroom. Asking price: $1.195 million. Open house: Sunday, April 17, 1 pm to 2:30 pm (by appointment)
200 West 108th Street, Manhattan Valley: Located in a prewar elevator building with a part-time doorman, this three-bedroom, two-bath has an additional office off the master bedroom. It's also a duplex, with beamed ceilings and hardwood floors. We're having a bit of a hard time understanding the layout, but still think it's worth checking out. Asking price: $1.45 million. Open house: Sunday, April 17, 1 pm to 2:30 pm
