This Greenwich Village loft has floor-to-ceiling windows and room to spare
Earlier this week, we wrote about the hidden costs, and benefits, of buying a loft in New York City. This two bedroom, two-and-a-half bath condo isn't immediately recognizable as a loft, but it's in an 1890 commercial building that was a church prior to its conversion in 2008.
The apartment has prewar details like high ceilings and an entry foyer, as well as contemporary, high-end finishes. Listed by Corcoran for $5.995 million, it's half a block from Washington Square Park.
The open living and dining room is a grand space, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking MacDougal Alley, as well as a limestone gas fireplace. Wood cabinetry and a wood-paneled fridge give the open kitchen a rustic feel. The kitchen has a large island and appliances by Miele, Wolf, and SubZero.

The master bedroom is off of the living room and comes with 11-foot windows, a walk-in closet, and a sumptuous-looking bathroom, complete with marble tile, double sinks, a steam shower, and a separate tub. A second bedroom comes with large closets and its own en-suite bathroom.
An additional space off the living room can be used as a third bedroom, according to the floor plan but may be better suited for other purposes, since it doesn't seem to be completely separated by a door. The apartment also has a laundry room and half bathroom.
The building has part-time doorman service. Note that this apartment has been listed for several months and has come down in price by over $500,000, so perhaps there's room to negotiate more.
