SoHo and Chelsea are two of Manhattan's trendiest locales, with upscale boutiques, cutting-edge galleries and lots of tourists to boot. Like most other 'hoods, the best apartment deals tend to be in walk-up buildings, such as four rentals that made this week's Hot Dozen--the 12 rental apartments Streeteasy.com visitors clicked on most often over the past seven days.
A studio at 221 West 28th Street (between Seventh and Eighth Aves) is listed for $1,875. It's actually a junior one-bedroom, with a foyer and lots of closet space. The apartment is on the second floor and looks bright and clean. Guarantors are permitted, and so are pets. Also, notes the listing, there is "NO BED BUG HISTORY EVER IN THE BUILDING."
A two-bedroom apartment at 132 Thompson Street and Prince Street is listed for $2,950/month with no broker's fee. The newly renovated apartment is located in a walk-up building with a live-in super and is just a short jaunt from Washington Square Park.
In the same building is a three-bedroom apartment listed at $3,392/month. The apartment's also no-fee, and the listing says all bedrooms have closets and windows, and fit a queen size bed. But the fact that there aren't any photos, makes us a tad suspicious.
There are no pictures accompanying the listing for a junior one-bedroom apartment at 98 Thompson Street and Spring Street listed at $1,910/month (also no broker's fee). The conveniently located pad has been recently renovated and is located less than two blocks from the C and E trains.
