This $479,000 Chelsea studio feels like the perfect pied-a-terre to us (and luckily the co-op board allows them). Located in a pre-war, Emery Roth-designed building at 300 West 23rd Street, between Eighth and Ninth avenues, it's smack in the middle of Chelsea. You'll undoubtedly want to take advantage of all the cool restaurant and bars in the area, and getting ready for a night out on the town will be that much more enjoyable thanks to a dressing room alcove (!).

There are also two decently sized closets. (We're salivating over the organized neatness of it all.)

The kitchen has its pros and cons. On the positive side, it's got stainless-steel appliances, a window and extra built-in shelves to the right of the fridge. On the other hand, there's no dishwasher, and we can't quite see where you'd fit one.

Prewar touches cozy up the apartment, including beamed ceilings, hardwood floors, and an original brushed steel-front door. Views extend north to the midtown skyline, but considering the space is on the second floor, we're not sure how much vista you'd enjoy.

The building has an elevator, doorman, live-in super, laundry facilities, and storage spaces available. Pets are allowed. It's also something of a bargain, as the average price of similar apartments that closed in the last 90 days was about $150,000 higher. That may be a factor of a couple of things: first, in Chelsea a lot of the apartments listed as "studios" are actually large lofts rather than more traditional studios like this one. And, also, there's the fact that this particular unit is on the second floor. A studio on the 8th floor in the same building is available for about $45,000 more.
