If you're willing to get creative, this Williamsburg loft could be just $712/month per person
It's a miracle these days to find even a room in Williamsburg for under $1,000 a month, so when you come across a well-located four-bedroom asking just $2,850? You sit up and pay attention.
Yet, no amount of attention can help us figure out what's going on with the supposed bedrooms in this duplex loft at 59 Scholes Street. There's a photo of the upper hallway, but it's not clear exactly how these smaller rooms fit into the apartment's layout, or if they have proper doors. (One thing that seems sure: at least a couple of the "bedrooms" in question are devoid of real windows.)

In fact, while the listing photos seem to indicate two rooms on the ground floor and one in the loft area, it's a little unclear where the fourth sleeping area is (or if there is one). In true "loft" fashion, that fabled fourth room may actually just be the living room or the upstairs hallway. But even if you opt to use this place as three-bedroom, that still divvies up to $950 per person, a decently good bargain in the current market (when, according to StreetEasy, the median price for a three-bedroom in Williamsburg is $3,600).
As for the kitchen and bathroom, they look to be standard issue "cheap starter apartment" fare—not ideal, but not necessarily dealbreakers:

Besides the price, this place's biggest selling point is the location. Right at the nexus of South Williamsburg and East Williamsburg, it's convenient to the L, G, and JMZ lines, and in an area of the neighborhood where young renters won't find themselves totally surrounded by ultra-rich residents of The Edge.
This rental has the makings of a good spot for band practice or a BYOB house party, if not necessarily peace, privacy and quiet.
