Applications are open for four discounted co-op apartments in Longwood, the Bronx, through a city affordable housing program.
The apartments are four bedrooms in a Housing Development Fund Corporation building at 748 Beck St., set aside for 4-8 person households making $71,588-$151,200 a year. Approved applicants will be able to buy the apartments for $100,565 each, with a 3 percent ($3,017) down payment.
The apartments are in a 10-unit building, and are newly renovated. They are described as having new kitchens and bathrooms, new electrical, heating, and plumbing systems, and energy-efficient appliances, fixtures, doors, and windows. The apartments will be tax-exempt for 40 years.
To qualify, applicants must have no more than $172,984 in assets.

The building is two blocks from the Longwood Avenue 6 station, and five blocks from the Prospect Avenue 2 and 5 station. It's also three blocks from the Bruckner Expressway. It's a little over 40 minutes by subway to and from Penn Station.
For the lottery, preference will be given to applicants who live in New York. Buyers must live in the apartments as their primary residences. People who own or have owned residential real estate are ineligible.
