A renovated Soho studio with garden access, for $525,000
Do you really need a closet? If the answer is yes—and the clothes-hoarder in your heart will know if it is—then this Soho studio, 143 Sullivan St., #G2, might not be the place for you.
If, however, you’re willing to make do with a standalone wardrobe, then this apartment should be on your radar. The $525,000 apartment is located at the back of a five-story, co-op building overlooking a garden, meaning that will be relatively quieter. But the apartment appears to be on the ground floor, which is likely why the shades are down in the photos, so you need to consider if that's a deal breaker as well. The kitchen and bathroom were recently renovated.
The living/sleeping space is narrow but nice, with nine-foot ceilings (which hit 11 feet at some points), wood flooring, exposed brick walls, and a decorative fireplace that adds old-school charm. There’s also recessed lighting and a ceiling fan to circulate the air. It isn’t a large room, but there’s more than enough space for a TV area with a couch and a couple of chairs, as well as a good-sized bed by the rather tall windows at the end.
The kitchen, which was recently redone, has white cabinets, a white subway-tiled backsplash, glossy black granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances (including a dishwasher drawer). There isn’t a lot of room for maneuvering in here, but there’s more counter space than one would expect for a studio kitchen.

The updated bathroom is also nice, with off-white tiles on the walls and floors and a large white vanity for storage.
The studio is located in a pet-friendly co-op building with bike storage and a common garden with fruit-bearing peach and apricot trees for residents to enjoy. Co-purchasing, parental purchasing, and pieds-à-terre are all allowed. Maintenance is $805 a month. There’s an unlimited sublet policy after two years of occupancy.
