A Carroll Gardens co-op that's both cozy and chic
This time of year, apartments with working fireplaces top our list of real estate "wants," and this $675,00 one-bedroom, one-bath in Carroll Gardens has a working hearth that completes the swee-tand-charming feel of the entire place. This new-to-the-market co-op is gifted with plenty of prewar details, like pine plank floors, exposed brick walls, large windows, and original pocket shutters. But it's also gilded with modern updates like designer appliances and sleek built-in shelving.
There's a dining area off the living room (and it looks like it comfortably fits a pretty long table). Though the kitchen is small (more of a kitchen nook, really), it's laid out well, and manages to include a dishwasher, small pantry, and built-in bookcases. Kitchen appliances include a SubZero fridge, a gas range, and a microwave.
The bedroom faces the building's back garden, and has a modern, clean aesthetic (despite the apartment being in a building built in 1920).
Extra perks: There's a vented washer and dryer in the unit, and additional storage in the basement.

The apartment is in a four-story, eight-unit self-managed co-op that's set back from the street. It has no underlying mortgage and the importance comes with a monthly maintenance of $766 per month. The apartment is also asking about $30,000 less than comparable apartments that sold in the neighborhood this year.
