5 open houses to check out this weekend in Astoria and Long Island City
This week we compared the northwest Queens neighborhood of Astoria and Long Island City, both of which offer quick access to Manhattan and abundant dining and entertainment options. And though the area is attracting a lot of attention these days—especially with the looming L train shut down encouraging Brooklynites to look northward—there are still pockets of relative affordability.
Here's a selection of one, two, and three bedroom co-ops and condos, all listed for under $1 million, and all having open houses this weekend.

21-17 31st Ave., #2C, Astoria

This one-bedroom, one-bath Astoria condo is in a new, 56-unit building and has an open plan living area, a sleek kitchen, and an in-unit washer and dryer. You'll find a number of amenities in the building, including a gym, a garage, free storage space, and a roof deck.
Listing price: $694,050
Open house: Saturday, Feb. 3rd, noon-3 p.m, and Sunday, Feb. 4th, noon-3 p.m. (both by appointment only)

4-74 48th Ave., #37F, Long Island City

This two-bedroom, two-bath condop is on a high floor in Long Island City's Citylights building, steps from Gantry Plaza State Park on the East River. The apartment's floor plan allows room for separate living and dining areas. The master bedroom comes with a walk-in closet. You'll also find a private balcony and updated bathrooms. There's a full-time doorman and a live-in super in the building, as well as a gym and a roof deck.

The apartment has a washer and dryer, and the building has a virtual doorman, a gym, and storage space for an additional fee.
