A decidedly un-"Jersey Shore"-style house on the Jersey Shore

A decidedly un-"Jersey Shore"-style house on the Jersey Shore
You may not make it to the Jersey Shore for Memorial Day weekend, but it's not too late to spend at least some of the summer there. We're loving this house at the southern tip of Long Beach Island that feels more Nantucket, as the listing claims, than "down by the shore." It's also got panoramic views of both the ocean and the bay, and the Forsythe Wildlife Sanctuary just over a dune. It feels perfectly private.
The house, which is asking $1,099,999, has four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms and four decks. It's got an open-style living room/dining room with gas fireplace, and lots of room to build a pool or hot tub.
The interiors feel a little bit dated, but the outside couldn't be more beautiful. And we don't know about you, but we like a little quirkiness in our (fantasy) beach houses.

It's also just about two hours from the city and two miles from Beach Haven, an area with loads of attractions, like the Fantasy Island amusement park, the Surflight Theatre, an ice cream parlour, a part that hosts summer concerts and parades, miniature golf, a shopping center, and lots of restaurants.
