Good news for Brooklynites in search of affordable housing: Applications have just opened up for 297 rentals in Prospect Heights, constructed for the Mixed-Income Program of the New York City Housing Development Corporation. The rentals are located at 535 Carlton Avenue in Brooklyn, with apartments ranging from $548/month studios to $3716/month three-bedrooms for renters with annual household incomes of between $20,126 and $173,415, depending on household size.

Per the listing, the building will feature a terrace and, accessible for an extra fee, a fitness center, a lounge, bike storage, and a children’s play room. According to the Pacific Park website, the building, designed by architects COOKFOX, will be “conscientiously sustainable.”
The building is part of the Pacific Park project, a newly designed 8-acre space that stretches across two city blocks in Prospect Heights. The website also notes that the park includes children’s play areas, a public promenade, a dog run, and greenspace, and is intended to be “Brooklyn’s next great neighborhood."
Preference for half the rentals will be given to current residents of Brooklyn’s Community Boards 2, 3, 6, and 8, and applications are due on September 15th.
