Behold, the rare (read: actually affordable) option in Hell's Kitchen: Applications just opened for subsidized spots in Sky, a new luxury development in the works from developer Moinian Group. (When it's finally finished, it'll be the largest rental building in the city, according to Curbed.) There are 70 studios available for $868/month, 120 one-bedrooms available for $931/month, and 45 two-bedrooms available for $1,124/month for renters with annual incomes ranging from $31,132 to $51,780 (full requirements can be found on the building's NYC Housing Collect listing).

The building is still under construction—and there are no available renderings of the interiors—but the listing notes that amenities include a 24-hour-attended lobby, on-site manager, outdoor lawn, and children's playroom, as well as extras including bike storage, a fitness center, a "water club," a putting green (!), cafe, and parking garage available for additional fees. Preference for half of the available apartments will go to residents of Community Board 4, which includes the area between 14th Street and 59th Street, west of Eighth Avenue above 26th Street, and west of Sixth Avenue below 26th Street. In other words, you've got a leg up if you currently live in Chelsea or Hell's Kitchen.

You can apply via the NYC Housing Connect website, or send a postcard or self-addressed envelope to West 42 Street Apartments, 1357 Broadway, Box 460, NY, NY 10018 in ordered to be mailed an application. (Word to the wise: Don't send in multiple applications, or you may be disqualified.) Get those applications in before the July 13th deadline, and keep your fingers crossed.
