Applications opened over the weekend for 211 affordable apartments at Compass Residences, part of a massive, 17-acre development project in a newly re-zoned section of Crotona Park East in the Bronx. When it first broke ground in January 2014, Crain's called it "one of the largest housing developments in the Bronx in decades."

There are no renderings just yet of the actual apartments, but according to the complex's listing on NYC Housing Connect, amenities include a parking garage, public plaza, shared courtyard, community rooms, shared laundry rooms and a closed circuit TV system. The developer's website also notes that mixed-use retail is also on the way to better serve the community, and that the project is environmentally-minded, and is "being designed to meet the Enterprise Green Communities criteria."

Available apartments range from $801/month studios to $1,200/month one-bedrooms up to $1,709/month three-bedrooms (with a variety of sizes and price points in between), for renters with annual household incomes between $28,835 and $90,180, depending on family and apartment size. Preference for half the apartment will be given to current neighborhood residents, in this case, Bronx Community Board 3 (you can check the boundaries here.)

Box 1756, New York, NY10037. Either way, get your applications in by the November 20th deadline, and don't apply more than once, or else you'll run the risk of being disqualified.
