Apply now to rent a brand-new Bronx apartment for as low as $1,292/month
The city seems to be kicking off the year by releasing applications for a few new affordable housing developments: Earlier in the week, there was this converted convent in Bushwick, and today, you can now apply for brand new middle-income rentals in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx.
The apartments, located in a small building at 74 West Tremont Avenue, are a mix of one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms priced at $1,292 and $1,458/month, respectively, for residents making 80 percent of the area median income (aka AMI—read this primer on affordable housing income caps for more on AMIs).
See below for the full list of options and requirements:
According to the listing on NYC Housing Connect, the building has elevators, security cameras, and intercoms. As usual, 50 percent of the apartments will be set aside for current area residents (in this case Bronx's Community Board 5), but the listing also notes that up to half of those units "may be allocated through referrals of applicants from city agencies," meaning they'll be set aside for city employees.
If you're interested and think you qualify, you can submit an online application via NYC Housing Connect, or request a paper application by sending a self-addressed envelope to Justin from Three, LLC. P. O. Box 9, Purchase, NY 10577. (Be sure not to send in multiple applications, or you could wind up disqualified.)

The deadline to apply is January 26th.
