Apply now for Williamsburg apartments as cheap as $640 a month
If you've been on the hunt for affordable housing options in Williamsburg, now's the time to make a move: applications are available for 38 subsidized rentals at 59 Frost Street, a new seven-story development with 47 apartments. To enter the lottery for the 38 available spots, you'll need to get your applications in before Dec. 22, DNAinfo reports.
As with other "80/20" rental buildings, where a fifth of the units are set aside for moderate-income tenants, preference for the apartments will be given to current residents of the community board's boundaries, i.e. Williamsburg, and income caps will be geared towards people making 50, 60, and 80 percent of the area median income. For instance, the cheapest unit available is a $640/month studio, available to single applicants earning between $23,623 and $29,400. There are also ten $835/month two-bedrooms available for a couple earning between $30,412 and $33,600 a year, three people earning between $30,412 and $37,800, or four people earning between $30,412 and $41,950. (The full list of requirements and available apartments can be found here.)
