Finding a rent-stabilized apartment—let alone one you actually like—can feel a little like the white whale of New York real estate. But they're out there, lurking on StreetEasy, Craigslist and brokerage sites, open and available to the average renter. A few reminders, though: They can still be pricey—usually in newer buildings—but they're still valuable because they guarantee that your rent can only go up by so much (currently, by $0 for the next renewal, thanks to a rent freeze) and provide a host of other protections that'll make your life easier as a tenant. As such, we took a look through the current options on the market to come up with five stabilized rentals that are ready and waiting to get snapped up.

For better or worse, this East Village studio is the quintessential downtown dive apartment—tiny, a touch dingy, and three flights up in a walk-up—but for a stabilized lease at $1,700/month, this might be your best bet if you're on a budget and have your heart set on living in this neck of the city.

This $1,926/month Harlem studio appears to be in a brand new building (on Fifth Avenue between 118th and 119th streets); aside from the stabilized lease, the listing notes that the place features a dishwasher and video intercom, and that the building includes "digital doorman service," a laundry room, and bike storage.
